Updated... August 14, 2015

CRAPPIE: We are in the middle of the hot "Dog Days of Summer" here in Alabama and the crappie fishing is decent. The anglers that are getting out chasing the crappie are getting started at daylight or late in the evening. The morning bite has been the best for us starting a daylight and lasting about three hours. Once the sun starts to really get up the crappie stop biting. Also catching crappie in the late afternoon into the night under lights. The fishing has been better at night under the bridges. The fish we have been catching are in about 12-14 feet of water on brush piles and stumps. The bite is light and the best results have come using live bait. All of that will soon change as the crappie fishing will really start to pick up as we get into late September and the water temperatures start to fall. As the water temperatures start to cool with the fall season the bite will pick up and just get better the cooler it gets. The fall season will run from late September into December. We are already booking up for the fall season so give me a call ASAP if you would like to get in on the fall action. We are doing half day trips (4 hours) through out the summer months due to the heat so if you are interested in some deep water summer time fishing give me a call and we will get you a date reserved. We will be on the water over the next few weeks and I hope to have another good report in a few days. Remember there is a 10 inch size limit on crappie on Weiss Lake and the daily creel limit is 30 per person, per day!  See Ya' on the Water!
